Sometimes, all you need after a busy week at the office is to kick back with your coworkers over a nice cold adult beverage. Enter Happy Hourians, our new monthly club where we go to a neighborhood haunt for post-work libations and snacks. Check out our first-round picks!
January – Border Brewing Company
Right in the heart of the Crossroads is an unassuming, friendly brewery that didn’t bat an eye when we waltzed in with chips and salsa from the office one afternoon. Border is a great spot to kick back and enjoy a flight or pint while taking in local art for sale on the walls or people watching at their garage door turned window. Great spot for First Friday - or any other day really.
We recommend: Campfire Porter
February – Brewery Emperial
The first thing you notice about this newly-opened spot is the expansive patio area complete with picnic tables and twinkle lights strung up overhead. A close second is the smoky smell of food cooking in their woodfire oven. While we only sampled the fried pickles (which were tasty), the other items on the menu looked (and smelled) like a hit too. We walked to this outdoor space on a rare 75-degree February afternoon and we were hard-pressed to think of a better spot to be on a sunny day.
We recommend: Biscuit
March – SoT
It’s pretty safe to say that an SoT cocktail isn’t your run-of-the-mill well drink. Instead, they take what you think you know about craft cocktails and add a unique, different twist. For example, The Smoky Cocktail (our recommendation) comes on a wooden slat over a pile of smoked banana leaves with a small bottle of the cocktail liquid and a pineapple-shaped ice cube to pour it over (a DIY-type setup). Their top-notch bartenders aim to please with invention and presentation, so if you’re looking for a high class cocktail and a cozy, chic place to sip it—SoT is your place to be.

See you next quarter! Cheers!
