Originally from Omaha, Neb., Megan found her place down here in Kansas City and is the new Spark Starter here at REACTOR. She loves everything the city has to offer, especially First Fridays and local breweries. We interviewed Megan, asked her some quirky questions, and in return she gave us some awesome answers!
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in KC?
A: Walking around on First Fridays. The one that particularly sticks out to me is the May 2016 one. The streetcar had just started operating, the weather was perfect and there were people absolutely everywhere. It made our city really look vibrant, artistic and fun.
My other favorite thing to do is check out local breweries with my husband or friends. So many have popped up in the last few years and most have really relaxed tasting rooms that are perfect for enjoying a flight or two.
Q: Do you have a hidden talent?
A: Oh, goodness I don’t think so. Does making really good guacamole count?
Q: What do you want people to know about you?
A: I love people! Meeting, connecting, hanging out with, discussing football with. Doesn’t matter! No two people are alike so each interaction is a chance to learn something new.
Q: What made you become interested in working at agencies?
A: My senior class project was to create a campaign for a company that provided supplies for teachers and their classrooms. The thrill I got from working with my team, having to meet the deadline and then presenting it all to the CEO of the company was a feeling I couldn’t shake. Plus, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more collaborative, laidback, fun atmosphere than an agency.
Q: Who is your major inspiration?
A: My parents! I love how they work so hard in their respective careers, but have always been there for my siblings and I and will drop anything to help their family and friends. Talk about serious work/life balance goals! Also, they are just really fun to hang out with.
Q: What’s your favorite place to grab tacos?
A: The REACTOR team has shown me the light that is El Camino Real, but I love the fish tacos at Sol Cantina too.
