Meet KC Brick Lab, the LEGO® User Group Behind REACTOR’s Bricks of Awesome

In our quest to host a LEGO®-themed First Friday show, we came across the KC Brick Lab, the awesome local LEGO® User Group.

It all began with LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Kansas City announcing their contest in search for the next Master Model Builder, in which 171 people entered and Jeremiah Boehr took the crown.  This LEGO® fever sparked the creation of the Facebook group, “Lego Fans in Kansas City.” As the group grew larger and the LEGO® Store in Overland Park opened, they decided to make the group “official.” The LEGO® Group’s North American Community Coordinator, Kevin Hinkle, was contacted and the group got on his list of LEGO® User Groups. Within a year, the group had over 100 members and started having official meetings.

Ever since its creation, the group has been putting their creative minds together by building incredible LEGO® sculptures, that we can best describe as AWESOME! KC Brick Lab participates in various events in the area. Some of the more recent ones have been at Powell Gardens, Olathe Public Library, and Planet Comicon, The group has also created a permanent display at Union Station.

You won’t want to miss KC Brick Lab at Bricks of Awesome (it’s quickly approaching)! We won’t give away too many details, but they will be converting our conference table at REACTOR into a huge LEGO® masterpiece!

Get ready for an awesome show of EPIC colors, shapes, sizes and dimensions! For more information and to keep up-to-date on the show, visit the Facebook Event.
