Mel cycled through many hobbies in high school that lead her to design. It began in newspaper class when she discovered that she had less interest in journalism and more interest in designing the newspaper layout. Mel followed her new passion and graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design.
Following college, Mel spent three years at a local advertising agency and later found her way to a pot of gold at the end of a very orange rainbow, REACTOR. Lead by her eye for design, it’s not uncommon for Mel to have a story behind small details that relate back to the brand.
Mel’s slight obsession with house plants has gotten her addicted to buying faux plants because she’s afraid that her corgi, Bruno, will think live ones are tasty treats. No, Bruno is not named after Bruno Mars although she likes him just the way he is. He is actually named after the singer of Mel’s favorite band, Awolnation, which she has seen six times and counting.
